The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art was the scene of an atrocious antisemitic incident this week when Jewish students had to barricade themselves in the school library due to threats by pro-Palestinian protesters.

The Cooper Union is located in East Village, Manhattan, where the protest took place. Fortunately, none of the students were hurt and were aided by the police who were assigned to the rally.

In related news, the United States House of Representatives passed Wednesday a resolution condemning Hamas for the atrocities committed in the Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel.

The initiative was proposed by newly-appointed Speaker Mike Johnson and is the first response by the Republican-led chamber following a three-week leadership vacuum and lack of response to the Middle East crisis.

The House backed the resolution by 412 to 10, with six members voting "present," reflecting traditional strong support in Congress for Israel.

The non-binding measure reaffirms US commitment to Israel and calls on Hamas to immediately cease attacks and release every single one of the over 200 Israelis kidnapped.
