In a shocking incident that has stunned Herzliya, central Israel, a mother has murdered her 6-year-old son in their apartment in the Galil Yam neighborhood. The child's grandmother made the gruesome discovery upon arriving at the residence and immediately alerted law enforcement. The woman also killed the family dog. The child's father, who had just returned from reserve duty near the Gaza Border, was confronted with the heartbreaking news. The Yarkon District Police's Crime Fighting Unit has taken charge of the investigation.

Authorities suspect that after the alleged murder, the woman attacked a security guard with an axe at a nearby mall, causing minor injuries. Surveillance footage shows the woman pursuing the guard. Following the assault, she reportedly undressed, appeared to meditate, and then stabbed herself. Blood stains, presumed to be from her deceased son, were found on her person. In response to circulating rumors, the National Insurance Institute issued a statement Tuesday evening, clarifying that the woman was not listed as a survivor of the October 7 Nova music festival "or any other hostile action." She is expected to undergo psychiatric evaluation.

T., a neighbor of the accused, provided a chilling account, "She walked past me and then turned back. I noticed blood splatters on her face. This was around 6 p.m. It seemed utterly surreal. I mistook the blood for a face mask. Her bare feet and torn clothes bewildered me. I was terrified, even more so when she began following me. She entered the building, and when I asked if she was alright, she affirmed she was. But something felt off. It sent shivers down my spine. About 90 minutes later, police cars flooded the area, and the gravity of the situation became clear."

Herzliya city officials noted that the woman had no prior contact with social services. Mayor Yariv Fisher said, "Our municipal police and social workers are on-site to support the police and assist local residents."

Raz, a local resident, expressed his shock, "I'm utterly stunned. I watched as patrol cars filled our streets, then learned that a neighbor had brutally killed her child and dog. We're horrified that this happened in our community, right under our noses. It's absolutely heartbreaking."
