'This is what happens to Israel's enemies': Photos of Gaza ruins hung in Oct. 7 terrorist cells

"This is a psychological measure designed to clearly demonstrate the consequences of October 7 to them. We harbor no illusions that this will awaken any sense of responsibility or remorse, but these images showing what happens to Israel's enemies will be permanently imprinted in their minds," Northern District Commander Shmuel Lavi said.

Israel Prison Service recently initiated an unconventional strategy by hanging large photos showing widespread destruction in Gaza inside cells holding Hamas terrorists who participated in the October 7 massacre. The goal is to confront them with the devastating consequences their actions caused for Gaza residents, Northern District Commander Shmuel Lavi revealed to Israel Hayom.

The images display ruined civilian buildings, leveled neighborhoods, and documentation of the war's impact on Gaza's population. "This is a psychological measure designed to clearly demonstrate the consequences of October 7 to them. We harbor no illusions that this will awaken any sense of responsibility or remorse, but these images showing what happens to Israel's enemies will be permanently imprinted in their minds," Lavi said.

Large photos were hung in the underground "Rakefet" wing and in additional cells within security prisons housing prisoners who actively participated in the massacre.

Lavi further explained that the prison service considers this initiative part of a comprehensive array of measures aimed at undermining the "hero" status and terrorist organization identification among security prisoners.

Proponents of the initiative view it as a valuable psychological warfare tool against the terrorists. Previously, the Israel Prison Service printed the message "The eternal nation does not forget" on identification bracelets worn by terrorists released during hostage exchange deals. Some were even made to wear shirts displaying the Star of David before their release – measures that sparked criticism from certain segments of the public.
