According to local police, the attack had been orchestrated by an extremist group that promotes hatred and the radicalization of youth. The group is also known to encourage self-harm and the consumption of violent content as a form of social belonging.
Despite the serious threat, the historic concert went ahead as planned, with no incidents or casualties. Hundreds of thousands of fans packed the iconic beachfront for the free show, part of Lady Gaga's global tour.
