President Donald Trump made a surprise announcement, saying the Houthi rebels in Yemen had informed him they have "capitulated" and would cease attacks on ships in the Red Sea.
"We had some good news last night. They told us yesterday that they no longer want to fight. We're going to respect that. We will honor that and we will stop the bombings. They have capitulated."

"But more importantly, we will take their word, they said they will not be blowing up ships anymore and that's what the purpose of what we were doing," he added, before turning to Secretary of State Marco Rubio and instructing him: "Marco, you'll notify everyone about this."
Trump went on to hint at a major development in the region: "Before I set out for Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar, Monday night, we'll have a very, very big announcement. The biggest one you could imagine… I won't tell you what it is, but it's positive. Very, very positive. I'll make the announcement on Wednesday or Thursday before we leave. It's one of the most important developments in recent years on a very critical issue. You'll all be here for it."
