It was not immediately clear how many Israeli casualties were on the scene. First responders said the victim was an Israeli man in his twenties who had just completed shopping and was loading his car's trunk. He confronted the terrorists but had been severely injured after being shot and was pronounced dead shortly after the incident.
A Magen David Adom paramedic said: "We received a report about a man injured in a shooting attack and immediately dispatched large forces to the scene. We saw a young man around 20 lying unconscious without pulse and without breathing with gunshot wounds to his body. We performed medical examinations but unfortunately his injury was severe and we had to pronounce his death."

Another medical source said: "This is a shocking shooting attack scene. We arrived with large Magen David Adom forces, and at the scene there was great commotion and panic. Additional MDA teams provided medical treatment to anxiety victims who were present at the scene."
The emergency response team member who shot the terrorists recounted the horror: "I was in the middle of shopping at Rami Levy. I heard gunshots, looked through the window and saw someone shooting at another person with a pistol near the shopping carts. I kicked the door and managed to break it open. I went outside but lost contact with the people. When I saw them I thought they were the civilians. I started to engage with the terrorists and at some point they pulled out a pistol and shot at me. I jumped behind a protective wall. Everyone started shooting and I shouted stop. I jumped toward them and shot them. I confirmed neutralization."
