Between 8 and 10 Israeli hostages are believed to be alive in Gaza City as the IDF expand operations there, according to a Hamas video showing hostage Guy Gilboa-Dalal. Dalal, who said he was recorded on August 28 in Gaza City, appeared alongside fellow hostage Alon Ohel.
Hamas had previously threatened to move hostages into Gaza City in an attempt to slow Israel's takeover of the Strip. However, Israeli defense officials believe the terrorist organization is unlikely to endanger them, since the hostages are considered "its strongest bargaining chip."
Families of hostages have voiced increasing concern in recent weeks over the risks to their loved ones as the military campaign intensifies inside the city.
