Police investigators raided the office of Israeli Social Equality and Advancement of Women Minister May Golan on Monday as part of an ongoing fraud probe. Golan is expected to be questioned later today at the Lahav 433 National Fraud Investigation Unit.
In addition to Golan, police arrested one suspect, detained several others, and carried out searches at multiple locations. The investigation centers on suspicions of fraud, misuse of public funds for private purposes, and fictitious employment at the ministry.
During a search of the home of one of Golan's office secretaries, who was detained for questioning, police discovered marijuana plants. All suspects were taken for interrogation at Lahav 433 headquarters. The arrested individual will be brought later today before the Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court for a remand hearing.

The investigation began several months ago and focuses on allegations that ministry employees and others were involved in fraudulently obtaining benefits, diverting public funds for private use, creating fictitious jobs, and concealing sources of funding through the use of nonprofits and government systems.
Criminal proceedings are currently underway against 10 members of the governing coalition.
