Israeli singer Gidi Gov was taken into custody on Tuesday after allegedly driving under the influence and hitting eight vehicles on the Ayalon Highway, near the Halakha interchange in Tel Aviv. Five people required medical treatment.

Gov, one of the most well-known and beloved singers in Israel, was arrested and questioned on suspicion that his blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit. Subsequently, his license was revoked for two months and he was placed under house arrest for five days.
"Gidi Gov was involved in a car accident in the city of Tel Aviv. His condition is good, and he is recovering at home. Good health to all," a statement from Gov's representatives said.

Gov began his career in the Nahal Troupe and later became the lead singer of the bands "Kaveret," "Gazoz," and "Doda." In his solo career, he recorded hits that became staples of Israeli music – including "Shalal Sharav," "Biladaich," and "Na'ara B'Mishkafayim" – and participated in timeless projects like "HaKeves HaShisha Asar."
Concurrently, he established himself as a beloved actor and television host, notably on the show "Zehu Ze!" and "Laila Gov," and became a key figure in Israeli culture for over five decades.
