The mother of Social Equality Minister May Golan appeared for questioning Thursday, after police had struggled for days to reach her by phone and were unable to go to her home because her daughter, an MK, enjoys parliamentary immunity.
Investigators had summoned Golan's mother to answer questions about documents and assets registered in her name. She appeared for questioning at a station near her home around midday.
During the interrogation, Golan arrived at the Tel Aviv police station and took her mother away when she stepped out to use the restroom, leaving before the session had concluded. Throughout the questioning, her mother had remained silent.

A police source commented, "May's mother cannot just be questioned and then leave whenever she feels like it. The minister is using her immunity to remove her from the interrogation room. We will consult with the relevant legal authorities and decide how to proceed."
At the same time, the Israel Police's National Fraud Investigations Unit, Lahav 433, decided to release two of the suspects in the corruption case involving Golan's ministry. They were placed under house arrest on Thursday and will remain there until September 21, the eve of Rosh Hashanah.
