The pro-Iranian Al-Mayadeen network reported Monday that signs indicate the US military may block the movement of Iranian commercial vessels in response to sanctions, raising tensions with Tehran.
According to the report, unnamed sources warned that any American move to prevent Iranian ships from sailing freely would provoke a swift response.
"The naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Iranian army are capable of neutralizing any threat to maritime security in the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea," the sources stated.
They further warned: "Any action against Iranian commercial vessels will be met with an immediate response from our extensive naval fleet. Our missile bases are deployed all along Iran's southern coastline."
