Hamas spokesman Taher al-Nunu said the group's delegation in Sharm el-Sheikh had demonstrated "positivity and responsibility" in pursuit of finalizing an agreement.
Al-Nunu said mediators were working intensively to remove every remaining hurdle to a ceasefire, describing an "optimistic atmosphere" among all parties involved.
Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer also arrived in Egypt, as senior officials in Jerusalem described a cautiously optimistic mood in response to recent messages from the Egyptian mediation team.

According to Al Arabiya, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said he had heard "very encouraging things from the talks to end the war in Gaza" and invited Trump to take part in the signing of the deal, if and when it is reached.

The Hamas spokesperson added that the talks had focused on the mechanisms for ending the war, the withdrawal of IDF troops from the Gaza Strip, and the issue of a hostage deal. He also said the sides had exchanged lists of prisoners for release, in accordance with agreed upon criteria and numbers.
Qatari outlet Al-Araby reported that Israel remains unwilling to include any Israeli citizens serving life sentences for terrorism offenses in a potential deal.
