Actress Cynthia Nixon, who played Miranda in the "Sex and the City" series and films, published a story on her Instagram account calling for the release of terrorist leader and prisoner Marwan Barghouti.
The post stated that the terrorist, who was convicted of five murders of Israeli civilians, should be released: "Marwan needs to be free to lead, building on the Gaza ceasefire, to help chart a path to a Palestinian state and just peace."
The actress joins band Massive Attack, which shared similar messages in a post uploaded to the Instagram page of the "Free Marwan Now" campaign and signed by several pro-Palestinian organizations.

The post stated: "Marwan Barghouti was not released in the prisoner exchange deal. This is a blow to everyone who thought this was the moment when Palestine's most popular leader would be released. Until the last moment there was hope his name would be included, but Netanyahu and his extremist government refused." The post continued that the public should "pressure political representatives to join the call for his release."
Nixon is considered one of the most vocal actresses against Israel. In April, she wore a shirt that looked like a Palestinian flag as part of promoting the show "And Just Like That." She previously shared that her son fasted for Gaza and is a member of Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) – a questionable Jewish organization that defines itself as anti-Zionist and operates in solidarity with Palestinians.
