Halloween gave Ayda Field, wife of British pop star Robbie Williams, perfect material for roasting her husband after he was caught having words with one of his most famous ex-girlfriends directly in front of her.

In fairness, the ex-girlfriend in question wasn't actually there in human form – just as a skeleton sporting a red wig and tiny minidress with the British flag. However, for Williams' followers and those familiar with his romantic past, it took no detective work to identify who this represented and why Field captioned the video she and Williams shared with millions of Instagram fans with the declaration, "Halloween got heated last night."

The video, which has pulled in more than 900,000 views to date, also captures her ordering Williams to quit talking to her, and even delivering a slap (playfully, naturally).

For anyone not quite up to speed on Williams' love life – he's been married to American actress Field for ten years and they've welcomed four children together – back in 2000, rumors swirled for months that Williams and Geri Halliwell (53), better known as Ginger Spice from British girl band Spice Girls (now going by Geri Horner since marrying Formula 1 team principal Christian Horner in 2015), had taken their friendship to the next level. The connection originally centered on mutual support – she backed him through recovery efforts while he stood by her during her battle with bulimia.

The supposed romance fizzled fairly quickly, and reports indicate Williams became convinced Halliwell was tipping off paparazzi about their whereabouts whenever they stepped out or got together, ensuring cameras were ready and waiting. Williams later acknowledged his headspace during that period was far from healthy (he spent years battling addiction to alcohol and drugs), and he'd bought into these rumors unfairly, which pushed him to end things with her. His track "Eternity," featured on his 2004 greatest hits collection, drew inspiration from their bond.
