Paramount Pictures has acquired the rights to the bestselling Recovery Agent book series by author Janet Evanovich and plans to develop it as a feature film starring Gal Gadot.

The studio secured the rights to the series by author Janet Evanovich and will develop and produce the project alongside Carol Mendelsohn and Julie Weitz through Carol Mendelsohn Productions. Gadot and her husband, Jaron Varsano, will also serve as producers via their Pilot Wave banner.

Gadot joins the project after previously collaborating with Skydance, prior to its merger with Paramount, on the 2023 espionage thriller Heart of Stone, which performed strongly on Netflix.

Evanovich's Recovery Agent novels center on Gabriela Rose, a global recovery agent who specializes in retrieving stolen or lost high-value items, often under dangerous circumstances.

Atria Books published The Recovery Agent in 2022, followed by the sequel The King's Ransom, released in November 2025. Both titles became immediate New York Times bestsellers. The second book is set to be released in paperback on June 30, 2026.

Gadot recently appeared in Julian Schnabel's In the Hand of Dante, alongside Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa and Gerard Butler. The film premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival. She is also set to star in the upcoming action thriller The Runner, directed by Kevin Macdonald for Amazon International.

Over the past 28 years, Evanovich has written 46 New York Times bestsellers and sold more than 200 million books worldwide. In addition to the Recovery Agent series, she is the author of the long-running Stephanie Plum series, which spans 31 books. The most recent installment, Now or Never, reached number one on the New York Times bestseller list.
