The IDF assesses that one possibility is that Gvili was buried in a cemetery in Shujaiyya, east of the Yellow Line. According to the IDF, large forces are taking part in the operation, which includes extensive searches and dental examinations as part of the effort to identify remains. The force is also securing the area slightly beyond the Yellow Line.
The Prime Minister's Office said in a statement: "Since the end of the weekend, IDF forces have been conducting a large-scale operation to locate the fallen hostage, Master Sgt. Rani Gvili. The operation is taking place at a cemetery in northern Gaza and includes extensive scanning activities, making full use of all the intelligence information at our disposal. This effort will continue for as long as necessary."
Israeli officials stressed that the family is being kept fully informed throughout the operation and that Israel remains determined to bring Gvilihome.
