Turkey's defense ministry announced Monday that NATO forces in the eastern Mediterranean intercepted a ballistic missile fired from Iranian territory after it entered Turkish airspace.
In its announcement, the ministry said, "We once again emphasize that all necessary measures will be taken decisively and without hesitation against any threat at our country's territory." It added that debris from the missile landed in Gaziantep and that there were no casualties or damage from the incident.

This was the second ballistic missile intercepted over Turkish territory. Last week, another missile was fired from the direction of Iran.
The United States announced Monday the evacuation of its consulate in the city of Adana, apparently due to the fighting with Iran.
