Larger than life
The more I got to know Sheldon, the more I came to admire and love him. He always did what he believed in and always believed in everything he did.

Sheldon contributed a great deal to Ariel University, but I believe his greatest contribution was not material, but moral in nature. Time and time again, he gave us hope, vision, determination, and strength, and at every opportunity, took care to emphasize the academic importance inherent in a university such as ours.
The greatest Jewish philanthropist of recent generations was buried in his beloved Jerusalem, in a service held among his family and close relatives. "It was a great privilege to spend every hour, minute and second with you. Our family, goals, and achievements will bear your name proudly," his wife Dr. Miriam Adelson, eulogized.
Above all else, Sheldon Adelson was a man deeply committed to the State of Israel.
When you follow the path of donations Sheldon Adelson generously scattered over the years, it seems there is only one thing that ties them together: the good of the Jewish people.
As great as Mr. Sheldon Adelson was, he was always able to connect with people who were in a low place, and did everything he could to spread peace and happiness.
"We are now in the country Sheldon loved so much. It is just hard to believe that he will no longer get to see it in his own eyes," Dr. Miriam Adelson tells Israel Hayom.
Asked to fund the research of a small group of Israelis, Dr. Miriam and Sheldon Adelson went above and beyond, establishing a large international fund for medical research with lightning speed.
He was his generation’s most singular man. His passing is a tremendous loss for the people of Israel and the Jewish world.
Thanks to Sheldon Adelson's vision and determination, Israeli media has changed forever.
The first issue of Israel Hayom appeared on July 30, 2007. Israel Hayom was founded on the belief that the Israeli public deserves better, more balanced and more accurate journalism. Journalism that speaks, not shouts. Journalism of a different kind. And free of charge.
