Some 10,000 people from around the world have raised over $1 million for the family of Ari Fuld, an American-Israeli who was murdered in a Palestinian terrorist in Gush Etzion last week, Israeli media reported Tuesday.
The 45-year-old father of four was stabbed to death by 17-year-old Khalil Jabarin at the Harim Mall at the Etzion Junction, south of Jerusalem.
Jabarin, a resident of the Palestinian village of Yatta, near Hebron, was moderately wounded after being shot by Fuld and several others. He is in Israeli authorities' custody.
Following the attack, the Palestinian Authority announced that Jabarin's family would be eligible for a monthly stipend.
Ramallah's practice of effectively paying salaries to terrorists and their families has been widely criticized by Israel and the United States.
In 2017, the Palestinian Authority spent $358 million – 7% of its total budget for that year – on such payments.
Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon said Friday Israel will deduct the amount the PA planned to pay Jabarin's family from the tax revenues it collects on Ramallah's behalf.
The online fundraising GoFundMe page, on which the campaign is registered, describes Fuld as a "fallen lion."
It says that all the money will go directly to the family, noting that "Ari did so much for Israel, we would like to do something for him."
