Sources close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday that he is likely to push for a decision on applying Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria even before next month's elections.

According to officials privy to the issue, at least three government officials have begun drawing maps that outline the future areas on which sovereignty will be applied.

These sources said that because the map included in the Trump administration's peace plan was very general, Israeli officials drawing the current maps have encountered difficulties, but are following the outline set by Washington to ensure that no Israeli community is evicted.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted that he would advance applying Israeli sovereignty to parts of Judea and Samaria only after the March 2 elections.

At a campaign event in Beit Shemesh, Netanyahu urged the audience's support, saying that a victory would allow the Likud to push the necessary moves in the Knesset to realize the US's peace plan.

"If we win, when we win, we'll continue to make history. As soon as we win, we'll apply Israeli law to all of the Jewish communities in the Jordan Valley and in Judea and Samaria," Netanyahu said.

"We, the Likud, won't let this great opportunity slip by. But in order to guarantee Israel's borders, in order to guarantee the future of Israel, I need every Likud member to go out and vote and get others out to vote. This time we're getting everyone out of the house, we're not leaving anyone behind," Netanyahu said.

The Palestinians rejected the plan peace plan, with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas calling it the "slap of the century."
