A Border Police officer was injured at a checkpoint near Jerusalem Wednesday morning after a Palestinian terrorist staged a vehicular and stabbing attack.

After hitting the officer with his car, the terrorist got out and stabbed him but was subsequently shot and neutralized by other officers. The victim sustained moderate wounds to his upper body.

The terrorist had a backpack with a pipe bomb inside, which he presumably wanted to detonate at the crossing.
The terrorist is believed to be a 24-year-old man from the Palestinian village of As-Sawahira ash-Sharqiya, which is just east of Jerusalem. He does not have a valid permit to work in Israel.
