Likud attacked Prime Minister Naftali Bennett on Monday after a diplomatic official said the prime minister has had to deal with the "terrible legacy" left by his predecessor Benjamin Netanyahu on Iran.

Bennett, who heads to Washington on Tuesday for his much-anticipated summit with President Joe Biden on Thursday, has recently suggested that the election of a radical president in Iran could present Israel with an opening to impact any future deal between the ayatollah regime and the West.
An official associated with Bennett told Israel Hayom on Monday that Netanyahu's conduct has left Iran's nuclear program at "its most advanced stage ever despite a years-long campaign [by Netanyahu]."
The source said the meeting would be an opportunity to present a new approach to Israel-US relations, not just on Iran.
Likud attacked Bennett less than an hour after the official leveled the accusations, saying Bennett was being hypocritical.
"Bennett lies as often as he breathes. After showering praised Netanyahu's immense work on Iran and angrily rejecting the criticism by those who dismissed Netanyahu's accomplishments, he now joins them while adopting a weak posture against Iran's aggression and a submissive policy of 'no surprises vis-a-vis the US," the Likud said.
"Former Prime Minister Netanyahu has fought against the Iranian threat for 30 years and has led this global effort against the dangerous nuclear deal as the world powers rushed to complete it," the Likud attacked.
