Over the years, communities in Judea and Samaria have been seen as offering a relatively high quality of life compared to some Israeli cities, resulting in relatively high housing prices. However, respondents pointed to a need for significantly greater investment in recreation, culture, parks, and cleanliness.
The findings of the comprehensive survey of 1,300 respondents from 17 of the 24 local authorities in Judea Samaria will be presented at a conference on innovation, society, and the state of the economy in the region.
Fifty-two percent of respondents said they were pleased with the level of leisure services available compared to 45% who said they were not satisfied. Asked about the level of cleanliness, 54% said it was satisfactory while 26% said it was not very satisfactory and 20% said it was unsatisfactory.
As for public parks, 55% of residents said they were generally satisfied with their public parks while 24% said they were somewhat satisfied and 20% said they were not satisfied at all.
The majority of residents, 65%, said they were pleased with the level of their children's education, while 35% said it was either unsatisfactory or not very satisfactory.
Karnei Shomron Council head Yigal Lahav praised the work of the local authority heads, who he said: "succeed in meeting the level of quality the residents are interested in, and we will continue to do everything we can to improve service in the fields of transportation, education, the environment, and old age."
