The non-binary Irish Eurovision 2024 contestant Bambie Thug thought they were simply sharing another fan artwork on their Instagram story, without realizing the astute Eurovision fan managed to sneak in hidden pro-Israel messages within the seemingly innocent drawing.

The phrase "Am Yisrael Chai" (The people of Israel live) and the question "Where were you on 10/7?" were cleverly embedded in the artwork Bambi shared. Although they quickly deleted the story, screenshots have already spread rapidly throughout social media.

Bambi has remained silent about the incident but continued sharing pro-Palestinian content, including tweets urging the world to have their "eyes on Rafah" and links for donations for the Palestinian cause.

Thug – much like their country – is well known for their clear anti-Israel stance, as they were constantly calling to remove Israel from the competition and eventually ignored the Israeli contestant Eden Golan's achievement of finishing in the 5th place. They referred to all "top 6 [finalists], minus 1" as "freedom fighters," supposedly relating to the Israel-Hamas war.

In a recent Irish interview, Bambi revealed that the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has opened an investigation into their complaints about remarks made by Israeli journalist Asaf Liberman ("Prepare the curses") during the Eurovision semi-final they participated in. They also cited an incident with Israeli stylist Itay Bezaleli as part of the cases they reported to the EBU.
