The red carpet, or more accurately, the blue carpet of the Met Gala 2025, was held last night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, bringing together an impressive crowd of actors, musicians, models, designers, and more to mark the museum's Costume Institute's new spring exhibition.

This year, the event celebrates "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," which will be on display from May 10 to October 26. The new exhibition explores the importance of clothing and style in shaping Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora and will be organized according to 12 characteristics of Black dandyism: Ownership, Presence, Distinction, Disguise, Freedom, Champion, Respectability, Jook, Heritage, Beauty, Cool, and Cosmopolitanism.

The distinguished guests arrived at the glamorous evening in New York wearing exaggerated looks that correspond with the theme of the exhibition. This time we were treated to many suits and interpretations of suits, hats of all kinds, extremely long dress trains, extraordinary hairstyles, and a lot of black-and-white color play.

While many were gorgeous and theme-related, some took it too far, bordering on costumes.

Here are some of the the best dressed in no particular order:
