Trump: Make the deal in Gaza, bring hostages back

US President Donald Trump is continuing to push for an end to the war in Gaza. Trump posted on his TRUTH social media platform that a deal must be signed. Over the weekend, Trump said all efforts are now focused on ending the war and securing the hostages' release as part of a broader move to expand the Abraham Accords.

US President Donald Trump is continuing to press for an end to the war in Gaza. On Sunday morning, he posted on his social media platform TRUTH: "Make the deal in Gaza, get the hostages back."

As a reminder, President Trump said over the weekend that all efforts are currently focused on ending the war and securing the hostages' release as a step toward expanding the Abraham Accords.

Ron Dermer, Israel's minister for strategic affairs and the official in charge of negotiations and liaison with the US administration, is expected to leave for the US on Sunday evening. Upon arrival, he is scheduled to meet with members of Trump's team and envoy Steve Witkoff. The meetings are aimed primarily at resolving the current crisis — namely, achieving a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Dermer has also discussed the possibility of a visit to Washington by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which could take place if there is progress in the negotiations.

The primary obstacle remains Hamas's refusal to accept the terms for ending the war: disarmament and the exile of its senior leadership. The central proposal currently on the table postpones discussion of these disputed issues to a later stage in the negotiations and seeks to address Hamas's demand for guarantees that the war will be brought to a complete end, even if talks are not concluded within 60 days. The proposal is still awaiting agreement from the parties involved.
