The performers, who appeared in the couple's inauguration costumes during one of their dance floor numbers, managed to capture the attention of the global internet, as their dance went viral and reached the headlines of news sites in the US and Britain.
The couple began their performance by standing at a podium, hands over their hearts, as the Star Spangled Banner played. The dancer dressed as Trump attempted to kiss the Melania lookalike, but she swiftly pushed him away with an elbow before adjusting his tie. The music then shifted to the Village People's "YMCA," a frequent end to Trump rallies. The couple stepped away from the podium and launched into a lively, coordinated dance. The actress portraying Melania discarded her hat, while the male dancer removed her coat to reveal a dress featuring the American flag.
Foreign media, including The Independent, Hindustan Times, and The Mirror US, published various reports with the talked-about footage. Some of the websites chose to see this as a "tribute to the US president" and a reflection of Israeli sympathy toward him. "Captivating blend of entertainment and geopolitics," WPN wrote, adding "This cultural tribute underscores entertainment's role in bridging political divides." However, Indy100 chose to interpret the dance as a parody that mocks the presidential couple and the relationship between them.
According to The Mirror US, the Israeli performance caught the attention of MAGA supports, with several suggesting Trump would appreciate the tribute. "This was amazing and they killed it," one social media user commented. Another wrote, "I hope President Trump gets to see this! He would love it!!!" A third commenter suggested the performers should be invited to perform at the president's "third inauguration."
