A Palestinian source told the Saudi Al-Arabiya channel that the spokesman for Hamas' military wing, Abu Ubaida, was in an apartment when the IDF attacked in Gaza City and was killed. His family members and commanders in the terrorist organization confirmed his death. At the start of Sunday's cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu quipped, "Hamas' official confirmation is slow, perhaps they don't have someone to serve as a mouthpiece for them." He added, "The IDF struck the spokesperson of evil, Abu Ubaida. We are awaiting the results."
The air force attacked in the Gaza City area in the northern Gaza Strip. The target for elimination was Abu Ubaida, who was attacked while he was in an apartment in the Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City. According to reports, at least seven people were killed and dozens were wounded in the strike.
The IDF Spokesperson's Unit announced that the operation was carried out by the IDF and Shin Bet, led by the Southern Command and under the direction of the Military Intelligence Directorate, using an air force aircraft. According to the announcement, many steps were taken before the strike to reduce the chance of harming civilians, including the use of precision munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence information.
Abu Ubaida is considered today to be perhaps the most senior terrorist in the Hamas organization remaining in the Gaza Strip, and certainly the most well-known among them. His propaganda publications, mainly messages on Telegram during the war, are spread throughout the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Authority territories, and the entire Arab world, and he is very significant for public opinion and for Hamas's methods.
Further in the announcement, the IDF accused the terrorist organizations in the Strip of systematically violating international law, while cruelly exploiting civilian institutions and the population as human shields for terrorist activities.
