IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir conducted a comprehensive field assessment on Wednesday throughout the Gaza Strip alongside Southern Command chief Maj. Gen. Yaniv Asur and senior infantry and armored corps commanders.
Throughout the inspection, the Chief of Staff maintained surveillance over Gaza City, received detailed briefings regarding the 162nd Division's operational status and strategic plans for expanding the maneuver. The chief of staff engaged with division commanders and combat soldiers while commending their operational performance.

"We are escalating combat within the primary theater, throughout the Gaza Strip, while intensifying strikes against the Hamas terror organization," Chief of Staff Zamir addressed fighters deployed in the field. "IDF forces maintain positions in territories controlling the city. Tuesday witnessed the commencement of substantial reservist mobilization to advance and intensify operations against Hamas."
"The commanders and combat soldiers deployed in the field confront among the most significant challenges throughout the State of Israel's history, you represent our most exceptional personnel, operating with valor, resolve, and dedication within the core of hostile territory," he continued.
According to his assessment, "We initiated the second phase of Operation Gideon's Chariots to accomplish the war objectives. Securing the return of our hostages constitutes a moral and national obligation. We shall persist in targeting Hamas' strategic centers until achieving its defeat. We are generating relentless pressure across all locations."
