The White House confirmed Tuesday that Second Lady Usha Vance, 40, and Vice President JD Vance, 41, anticipate welcoming a son this coming July. "We're very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy," the couple announced on social media, adding that "Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July."
Presidential history records no previous instance of a second lady carrying a child during her husband's vice presidency in the modern American era, The New York Times reported.
The Vances met at Yale Law School and married in Kentucky by 2014. Three children make up their current household: boys Ewan and Vivek, and daughter Mirabel.

During the 2024 Republican National Convention, the second lady revealed her husband's "one overriding ambition" to become "a husband and a father and to build the kind of tight-knit family that he had longed for as a child," according to The New York Times.
Professional observers position the second lady as exemplifying the pro-family agenda her husband advances – notably his public endorsement of "more babies in the United States of America," delivered at the previous year's Right to Life March against the backdrop of shrinking national fertility figures. Official White House social media designated the couple "the most pro-family administration in history."
The baby revelation comes less than 30 days after White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced she is expecting a daughter in May.
