A hero – in life and death

It appears that the world prefers to have us play the role of victim. But as soon as we stand up and fight back, a blame mechanism is activated against Israel as the representative of the Jewish people. Thoughts on the rising antisemitism.
Kristallnacht's 85th anniversary was this week. I want to say to all our friends in Israel: These days, we sadly realize that the poison of antisemitism is also active in our country. We want a Germany where a person wearing a yarmulke has nothing to fear on our streets. This is what we will fight for. We will use the full force of the law.
The comparison between Hamas and ISIS, usually used to illustrate their monstrous behavior, also applies to how to deal with them. Namely, one has to appreciate the complexity and time such an undertaking involves.
I dread the prospect of Israel having won the war in Gaza only to lose its collective solidarity as a nation; I fear the chaos that will reign here – which will make the judicial reform protests pale in comparison.
Officials are concerned that ignoring the political aspects of the post-war reality could have Israel face a fait accompli on various matters down the road.
Technically speaking the massacre occurred within the borders of Israel, but Israel was not there. Technically speaking, the massacre occurred after 1948, when the Jews had a safe haven, but on that day – they were in the Diaspora.
The government should take responsibility, order the IDF to eliminate terrorism in Gaza once and for all, no matter how long it takes. Because we will not return to the south as long as there is one bullet, one gun, or one terrorist in Gaza.
It turns out that even after the ghastly massacre we went through, American citizens take precedence over those of Israel. We’ll give you weapons and send aircraft carriers, but where the abductees are concerned – ours are worth more. They come before yours.
The current fighting with Hamas is unlike anything in recent history as it is fought both in Gaza and on Israeli territory.
