Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack just minutes after it happened. The rocket fire, which according to pictures seen by Israel Hayom originated in southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah, reached as far north as the Sharon region, with Kfar Saba – one of the largest cities in Israel – having a siren for the first time since the war started. Rafah is the only large stronghold still held by Hamas.
In a scathing dissent, Ugandan Judge Sebutinde criticizes ICJ colleagues' handling of South Africa's request.
The denial came amid reports of fresh Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon targeting Hezbollah positions overnight. The Israeli military said it carried out the attacks with artillery and aircraft, hitting Hezbollah targets in five areas of southern Lebanon.
The videos depict Gaza's dire situation as Hamas' authoritarian rule persists in the wake of the conflict with Israel.
In the video, a man identifying himself as a reservist calls on Netanyahu to dismiss Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over his statements that called for a transfer of powers to a new authority in the strip as part of the military campaign.
While the ICJ's rulings are not legally binding and do not rule out limited military action, the decision has nonetheless raised concerns within Israeli circles. In the footage, the suspect threatens Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, stating that if he does not retract his statements, reserve soldiers will only follow the orders of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, beacause the former had been calling on the government to hand over power in the Gaza Strip to Palestinian Authority-related entities to counter Hamas.
Hanan Yablonka, Michel Nisenbaum, and Orion Hernandez were originally believed to be alive, but intelligence revealed they were killed in the Hamas onslaught.
The move would make Netanyahu the first foreign leader in history to address Congress four times, breaking his own record of three addresses shared with Winston Churchill.
