"We remind the public of the recommendation issued to the general public, including the vaccinated and recovered, to avoid unnecessary trips abroad," Health Ministry says.

A vaccinated adult and an infant entering the country from abroad are diagnosed with the Brazilian variant, while a vaccinated Israeli returning from abroad is diagnosed with the Chilean variant. There are now just 1,259 known active cases of the virus in Israel.

For first time since March 2020, Israel Defense Forces reports no active coronavirus cases. Israel's infection rate stands at 0.2%. There are currently 1,288 active cases of the of the coronavirus, 104 of which are serious.

Israelis returning from seven countries outlined by the ministry will now be required to self-isolate upon arrival, even if vaccinated.

As India's coronavirus pandemic breaks records, the healthcare system is overwhelmed. "We started burying the bodies of COVID casualties when no one else was willing to touch them," one crematorium volunteer tells Israel Hayom.

The Health Ministry expects to receive approval from the Food and Drug Administration by early May, and begin the children's inoculation campaign at the end of next month.
