Birthright: His greatest love
Sheldon and his wife Miriam did more than anybody else to strengthen Jewish education and identity, mostly through their flagship project: Birthright Israel. He never forgot where he came from.

Sheldon Adelson's daring and creative imagination resulted in unprecedented enterprises. He will always be remembered as a man who was committed to the Jewish people throughout his entire life.
Despite his tremendous contributions to Jewish Agency projects, Sheldon never tried to pressure the organization politically. He believed that helping the Jewish people should happen outside of political disagreements. Every Jew can participate in the projects, regardless of his or her political affiliation.
Just like the famed philanthropist who built Jerusalem's first neighborhoods outside the Old City walls, Adelson was a central pillar in the great enterprise of ensuring the survival of the Jewish people and instilling a strong Jewish identity in the young generation.
Sheldon Adelson was one of the biggest donors in the history of the Jewish people. He was a huge Jewish patriot, who worked to strengthen Israel, bolster its standing in the United States, and strengthen ties between the Jewish people in Israel and the Diaspora.
We first met in 2008, and our last meeting was a month ago. Our first and last conversations focused on Israel. Sometimes I felt that the genius businessman was born to serve the great philanthropist, who was an expert at giving in secret.
Sheldon Adelson loved Israel and the Jewish people, and from that loves stems his connection to Israel's Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial.
Throughout his long years as one of the world's leading philanthropists, fostering warm ties between Israel and youth in the Diaspora was dear to Sheldon Adelson's heart.
Jewish Agency chair says Adelson was no doubt among the greatest leaders of the Jewish people throughout this generation. Israeli-American Council: He was the greatest Jewish-world philanthropist of our time. United Hatzalah chief: Sheldon was a true role model and inspiration for living life fully.
Sheldon Adelson understood what nations like ours needed to survive. And he always wanted to know what he could personally do
