Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will make a historic visit to the West Bank next month, a top Palestinian official said on Monday.
Majdi Khaldi, an adviser to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, told the Voice of Palestine radio station that Modi will visit Ramallah on Feb. 10. He said it would be the first visit by an Indian prime minister to the Palestinian territories.
The visit would come several weeks after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was warmly welcomed during a six-day trip to India.
India, for decades a leading country in the Non-Aligned Movement, has developed warm relations with Israel in recent years.
"This is the first Indian prime minister to visit the Palestinian territories, and it is going to be historical," Khaldi said.
