An Israeli woman died Tuesday morning in India from an apparent acute allergic reaction to milk, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
Ornit Menahem, 25, from Moshav Bat Shlomo in northern Israel, was in Dharamshala when she fell ill.
Israelis in Dharamshala said Menahem arrived at the local Chabad House suffering from severe shortness of breath and was evacuated by ambulance to Zonal Hospital in Dharamshala, where doctors pronounced her dead.
Israel's Consul in New Delhi Eli Sneh and the Foreign Ministry's department for Israelis abroad were assisting efforts to bring Menahem's body back to Israel for burial.
