Israeli soldier injured in Hebron stabbing attack; terrorist shot dead

Israeli security forces shot and killed a ‎Palestinian man who stabbed an IDF soldier in ‎Hebron, the military said‎ Monday.‎

The soldier sustained minor wounds and was treated ‎on site before being taken to a nearby hospital, the military said. ‎

In a statement, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit said ‎that the incident took place near the Cave of the ‎Patriarchs, when a Palestinian man lunged at one of ‎the soldiers standing guard at a checkpoint near the ‎holy site, stabbing him in the upper torso with scissors.

Troops at the checkpoint engaged the assailant, ‎shooting and killing him. ‎

The Cave of the Patriarchs pilgrimage site is a frequent flashpoint, as both Palestinians and Israelis regularly pass through the area.
