Gaza health officials said over the weekend that 18 Palestinians were wounded by gunfire from Israeli soldiers at a protest along the Gaza-Israel border on Friday.
Thousands of Palestinians protested Friday, but maintained the lower intensity observed by Gaza demonstrators over the last month, amid cease-fire negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
The weekly riots began in March and had gotten extremely violent before the truce went into effect.
On Friday, some demonstrators did approach the heavily guarded security barrier and hurled rocks and firebombs at Israeli troops.
As part of the cease-fire negotiations, Israel agreed to ease the crippling blockade it imposed on the Gaza Strip when Hamas wrested control over the enclave in 2007. Israel argues that the blockade is necessary to prevent Hamas from smuggling weapons and terrorists in and out of Gaza and to prevent attacks against Israel.
Gaza's Hamas rulers said the protests were being restrained for the time being to assess the extent to which Israel was living up to its promise and easing the blockade.
Recently, Israel allowed Qatar to deliver cash to Hamas' civil servants and fuel to Gaza's power plant, hoping to calm the months of border violence.
Hamas has threatened to ratchet up the border riots if the blockade is not lifted.
