A new section of a protective wall being erected alongside Israel's border with the Gaza Strip was completed last week, Channel 12 reported.

The wall, which is designed to block Gaza terror operatives' view of the roads and train lines that run along the border and are vulnerable to attacks like the Kornet antitank missile that was fired at an Israeli car during a spike in violence in May, killing Moshe Feder, 68.

According to Channel 12, the project to bolster Gaza-adjacent communities in Israel includes the construction of barriers; alternative roads, and additional concrete walls. It was approved last year, but remained "stuck."

The total cost of the plan is some 100 million shekels ($28 million), and not all the necessary resources have been allocated. The remainder of the money is expected to be transferred by the government that will be formed after the Sept. 17 general election. Nevertheless, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued instructions for the work to proceed.
