The IDF Military Police have launched an investigation into the death of soldier Eli Ashkenazi, 20, who had been missing since Sunday.
Ashkenazi's body was found near the railroad tracks outside his hometown of Kfar Saba, northeast of Tel Aviv.

Ashkenazi was last seen leaving his home on Sunday, carrying his military-issue weapon and a small bag. He was expected at his base in the Golan Heights, but never arrived.
Once he was reported missing, the Kfar Saba Municipality called on the public to help look for him and opened a special volunteer hotline to handle tips.
