US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that his public support in Israel is so great that he could probably be elected to be the Jewish state's prime minister.
"Ninety-eight percent [of Israelis] support me, with what happens there I can become prime minister in Israel," Trump joked while addressing an event hosted by the ultra-Orthodox community in New York City.

"What kind of election system is there in Israel? Netanyahu and everyone there is fighting between themselves. We have fights of a different kind, but at least we know who's the boss. So many elections over there, and no one is elected," he said.
Received by the audience with enthusiastic applause, Trump spoke of his decision to recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital and move the US Embassy there from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, saying he was under "great pressure from all sides" before making the decision.
"It was a big and significant deal," he told the audience.
