Sophie's family celebrated her 13th birthday last week on-line. To be sure, such celebrations have become commonplace due to the coronavirus, but in Sophie's case there was one significant difference -- she is a dog, and this was also her "bark-mitzvah" ceremony.

Rachel Paige, or, if you will, Sophie's mommy, shared a photo of the coming-of-age ceremony on Twitter. With a kippa on her head and tiny prayer shawl around her neck, a proud Sophie is seen sitting next to a box of matzas (her bark-mitzvah fell on Passover) and Hannukah menorah, with a prayer book at her feet and a few dollar bills -- undoubtedly a gift for the important day, which we can only hope will be invested wisely.

"Sophie did a great job reading from the Torah and we're all so proud of her," Paige, who works as an associate editor at marvel.com, tweeted.
Sophie was then raised 13 times in the air, according to birthday tradition, with the song Hava Nagila blaring in the background.
After receiving a flood of responses, close to 50,000 likes and over 4,500 shares, Paige tweeted: "Sophie says 'bark bark' which roughly translates to 'thanks so much for all the birthday messages, hug your loved ones, wash your hands, stay safe.'"
