The Jewish Agency and the Appleseeds Academy, which works to promote equality in tech, are offering new immigrants to Israel a service to make the Israeli digital sphere available to them in their native languages.
The service, launched when the coronavirus crisis was at its height and people were forced to access vital services from home, is designed to help olim who don't yet speak or read fluent Hebrew navigate services such as apps and sites for the various health care providers, online forms, and online supermarket orders.

The Mitchabrim (Connecting) project has recruited dozens of tech-savvy volunteers who are native speakers of English, Russian, French, Amharic, Spanish, and Hebrew to staff a hotline to help new immigrants use the apps and websites, step-by-step. The hotline (055-275-0238) operates from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Users can also text the word "help" to the same number.
Eyal Genzel, Chief Digital Officer for the Jewish Agency, said he "welcomes the cooperation with the Appleseeds Academy on the Mitchabrim initiative."
"I'm happy that along with teaching Hebrew, we can help olim acquire the language of technology and help them connect to Israel and feel at home," he said.
