About 2,000 people attended a memorial ceremony on Saturday to mark the 25th anniversary of the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin in Tel Aviv.
The crowd observed a moment of silence as, for the first time, a one minute-long siren sounded throughout the square. The memorial ceremony was funded by the public without the contribution of any political party.

Opposition Leader Yair Lapid was the keynote speaker of the event. "One cannot live without hope. It calls upon us to fight for it, and we go out to bring it in. We are here because Yitzhak Rabin ordered us to defend our country. This is Rabin's legacy," he said.
