The decision follows the increasing cyber threat to Israel, especially in the wake of the massive hacking of Shirbit Insurance, which compromised the personal information of thousands of Israelis.
The comptroller said that his office is currently completing a comprehensive audit of the Central Election Committee's computer systems, its computer activity over the last three election campaigns and its readiness to deal with cyberattacks.
Englman noted that the audit seeks to "draw the necessary conclusions ahead of future elections and improve the committee's operations."
