Over the last few years, the world of content providers has become a battleground of an endless line of streaming platforms.

There are currently more than 200 streaming services worldwide, ranging from famous ones like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and NBC's Peacock to more specialized platforms that focus on specific subjects, such as sports, professional wrestling, or anime.

As usual, where there's an opportunity, there is also a quick-witted Jewish mind at work.

Three new Jewish streaming platforms have been created recently. Jewzy Cinema and TV launched just last week in the US with the dream of "bringing all Diaspora Jews together under one streaming platform" and "making Israeli and Jewish content accessible to the world."

A sharp rise in anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism prompted Jewzy founder Jeremy Wootliff to create a platform of this kind. "I see all the nonsense published in different media outlets. Israel has poor public relations. We need to present a positive picture of who a Jew is, to emphasize the good in our culture."

Q: Why would someone who has Netflix need any other platform? Netflix has all the Adam Sandler comedies.

"Netflix is Netflix. We don't aim to compete with it. Our platform includes content that hasn't reached the big screen, content that people do not know exists.

"We have a remake of The Hebrew Hammer [a 2003 cult classic about a Jewish superhero], or the Israeli horror film Big Bad Wolves, which [famous American film director Quentin] Tarantino called that year's 'film of the year.'

"We are in a new wave of Israeli cinematography. Jewzy would like to make that experience to be cool and refreshing."

Q: Jewzy is a specialized streaming platform. Do you think a non-Jewish audience will be able to understand the Jewish culture?

"The goal is not for them to understand. But to enjoy, have fun, laugh. Jewzy's content is just like the content of any other streaming platform. It just happens to be Jewish."
