Lerner is a longtime advocate of many organizations working on behalf of holy places in Jerusalem and in Judea and Samaria.
"The time has come for Har Hazeitim to receive the attention and resources it deserves," he said. "My appointment underscores the deep commitment of the international committee to invest in and upgrade its efforts for Har Hazeitim. Together with the members of the Knesset and Israel's friends Abroad we are committed to deepening and broadening our activities in the near future."
The International Committee for the Protection of Har Hazeitim was founded in 2020 by brothers Avraham and Menachem Lubinsky, who discovered the neglect of the cemetery after the burial of their parents. One of the ICPHH's most important achievements was the setting up of the special Knesset lobby for the Mount of Olive.
