Telem party leader Moshe Ya'alon closed the door Sunday on a potential merger with the two political alternatives to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from the Right: New Hope leader Gideon Sa'ar and Yamina chief Naftali Bennett.

Speaking to i24NEWS in collaboration with Israel Hayom, Ya'alon expressed his concern that the Sa'ar-led New Hope party may join Netanyahu in forming the next coalition – similar to the political decision made by Blue and White leader Defense Minister Benny Gantz, made.
And on Bennett, Ya'alon said that while the prime minister was being investigated on corruption charges prior to his indictment, Yamina's chairman was willing to grant him immunity through parliament.
Therefore, "I can't trust them," Ya'alon remarked.
But Israel's former defense minister and military chief, whose party is polling below the four-seat electoral threshold, clarified that he is "ready to do everything in order to replace this very bad government," including joining forces with other political factions -- no matter on which political aisle they may be.
"It's not about Left and Right anymore, it's about being corrupt or honest, it's about democracy or dictatorship, it's about telling the truth or telling lies," Ya'alon stressed. "That is why I'm here, to do my utmost to replace the government."
Asked about the new Biden administration and its foreign policy in regards to Iran, Telem's chairman warned: "[There's] no doubt that the [nuclear] agreement with Iran was a historic mistake... I'm afraid that if we go back to [former President Barack] Obama's policy it will be another mistake."

He added that he hopes that Washington realizes that the situation in the Middle East has changed, in favor of Israel and other neighboring Arab states, "and not to go back to the old and very bad policy of the Obama administration."
