Environmental Protection Minister Gila Gamliel announced on Wednesday that her ministry had successfully identified the vessel that was allegedly responsible for the massive oil spill on the country's shores earlier in late February.

"We managed to lay our hands on the criminal ship; our long reach extends to anyone who hurts our nature, sea and beaches," Gamliel tweeted. She later added that the ship had sailed from Iran under a Libyan flag.
She said that the crew should have been aware of the spill and that it "may have not had compassion by not alerting the authorities."
Greece's coast guard took part in the investigation as well, and at one point more than several dozens ships were suspect.
