We will work for equality, freedom and peace

Meretz leader Nitzan Horowitz believes his party is crucial to these elections if voters seek to prevent the formation of a radical right-wing government.

Meretz is the most honest and credible party in the Knesset. Whoever wants lawmakers who zigzag, switch parties, or are under police investigation should move on.

This does not exist in Meretz. We are an ideological party and we act in accordance with our values, just as our voters expect of us. We have never let them down and we have never made them embarrassed to be associated with Meretz. That is why they are loyal to us.

Meretz is crucial to these elections. Without Meretz in the Knesset, Benjamin Netanyahu will secure 61 seats, courtesy of the Haredi and far-Right parties.

Therefore, this time, a vote for Meretz is a strategic vote for the Center-Left bloc.

Only Meretz will be able to prevent Netanyahu from forming a government, and only Meretz will allow for the formation of a new government. And yes – Meretz will be a key player in the post-election political game and will be part of a government seeking to effect change.

A vote for Meretz is, of course, also a vote for clear values. Meretz proudly champions the fight for human and civil rights. We advocate equality, freedom and peace. We often come under attack – being a leftist is Israel nowadays is not easy. But think of the Knesset – of the public arena – without Meretz and without the Left's voice.

That is a horrifying thought even for those who are not left-wing voters, and it is a terrifying thought for anyone who understands the nature of democracy.

Former Meretz leader Yossi Sarid once wrote, "Since Meretz was founded we have had to deal with those of little faith, who doubted us and never ceased dispensing advice. Many parties have come and gone, rising fast and fading even faster. Meretz has known its ups and downs but is has always survived, for no one has volunteered to succeed it in life as the guardian of democracy and of the embers of justice and peace. After Meretz, only a remnant will remain."

This is why we keep on fighting, despite all the difficulties.

Israel has endured a terrible year, and a major course-correction is needed. There is no party that is more suited to this – that is more willing to roll up its sleeves and put in the work – than Meretz.
